In researching this project we explored and considered a vast range of technology. Initially we looked at interactive surfaces, eg. Epaper and Interactive Wall. Although interesting, we decided we wanted to look at narrative and thus steered away from direct touch interaction.

As we wanted to explore interactive experiences using mobile phones as a form of communication, we were excited to find information on the Nike advertising campaign. Passersby used their phones to interact with the 23-story billboard, customizing and even directly purchasing their own Nike shoe. After designing a sneaker on the screen, the user received a text message within seconds.



That message contained mobile phone wallpaper showing the shoe along with a link to the Nike iD site where they could buy it. A PIN number provided additional security. We drew inspiration from this as a fun form of interacting with your audience through mobile phones.

We decided we would definitely be using mobile phone technology within our project. As one of the submissions was to be a flash application, this was always one of the technologies we would go on to engage with.
